WORK ONE-ON-ONE WITH

ALI CERTAIN

Is your energy caught up in a habit or a choice? Good alignment is good therapy. Movement is a deep source of curiosity and joy for me. I teach from the depths of my own practice, healing, and over 23 years of alignment-based yoga and therapeutic training. My approach blends precise physical instruction, postural alignment, yoga therapeutics, down regulation of the nervous system, and fascial release with Roll Model® Therapy Balls.

Let’s connect to discuss goals for working together. Send a message below and I will be in touch.

Ali has been my yoga teacher for more than 15 years. And now she is taking me on a journey with the BowSpring method.

I’ve had 3 joint replacements during this time and she has been  sensitive to what my body can and cannot do by showing me alternative movements and poses. She is a true professional who is always studying and learning new things about our body mechanics and applying that to our practice.  I so appreciate that she continues to learn and grow so we, her students, can, too.

I began working with Ali after a persistent foot injury left me feeling a bit stranded.

She literally helped me get back on my feet and I'm infinitely grateful for the newly found (bow)spring in my step!  Ali is kind, knowledgeable, patient and persistent and has inspired me to be a little more of all of the above.

Ali's precise instruction and understanding of the body, taught with a generous spirit, has taught me so much about my own body: how to align, move well and move safely in my everyday life.

This really paid off after suffering some serious injuries with a long recovery. I'm immensely grateful.

I consider myself most lucky to have Ali as my yoga teacher for over 23 years.

She is a most skilled teacher in so many different ways. She is highly trained and knowledgeable and she teaches with great confidence. She knows her anatomy and can instruct and explain complex and therapeutic material in understandable and even entertaining ways. Her classes can be full of humor and laughter, and safe and welcoming enough to ask questions or even groan. She is totally present and knows the abilities and challenges of all her students. She adapts her pacing and instruction to the level of the group. She walks the room and is highly observant of the needs of individuals as well as the group. She remembers and welcomes students of all abilities and makes them feel comfortable. Ali is very adept at applying yoga movements and principles to daily life and activities off the mat. She has created a community of students who are dedicated to the practice, dedicated to her, and even one another. Practicing with her has changed the way I move and understand my body and more importantly how I perceive and  interact in my up and down life off the mat. I am so grateful for this practice and discipline in my life.

I have been lucky enough to be a student of Ali Certain’s for over 15 years and I can confidently say she is one of the most gifted and grounded teachers I’ve ever encountered. Over the years, Ali has guided me not only through physical practice but also through the deeper layers of mindfulness that yoga offers.

Ali is dedicated and takes her responsibility as a teacher seriously, but she also possesses a great sense of humor and doesn't take herself too seriously keeping a healthy balance between dedication and a relaxed perspective.
Her teaching style is thoughtful, precise, and always meeting students where they are, while gently encouraging growth and self-discovery. Practicing with Ali has been a transformative part of my life, and I’m incredibly grateful for the knowledge, calm, and inspiration she continues to share.

I have known of Ali Certain as a yoga teacher in the community for many years but it wasn’t until last November that I became a devoted student. Thanks to taking her classes two days a week for the last eight months, I move differently, my body feels stronger and I have more flexibility.

Through learning the techniques Ali teaches in Bowspring, I have new tools that I know will help me age better and with more confidence. I can't sing her praises enough, but one thing I love about her classes is they are open to any level. She wants all of us to feel good in our bodies and welcomes students of all ages.

I've never had a teacher like Ali.  She fully embodies her work, which makes each moment as her student larger and more impactful.

Being in her classroom has been transformative because it goes beyond yoga as movement and makes me reimagine how I move and how that movement impacts the way I think and show up in the world.  It is clear that Ali invests her heart and soul into each session, whether with one student or a large group. She considers who is in the room, what they are bringing to the space, and how she can guide them to absorb and experience everything in a personally meaningful way.  Ali is also light-hearted and relatable, making our time together feel both relevant and healing.  I truly believe Ali's work on this earth is to help people feel good in their bodies, which has a profound ripple effect on our collective health.

Working with Ali has made a huge difference for me—she’s helped relieve pain I’ve dealt with for years and given me a better understanding of how my body moves.

Every class feels fresh because she’s always bringing new insights and ideas. But what really sets her apart is how much she genuinely cares—you can feel it in the way she teaches and connects with everyone in the room.

When people ask me how long I’ve been studying yoga with my teacher and why I go to this particular studio way across town, I tell them I would follow Ali to the moon……..

Her class is the perfect balance of a physical, spiritual, and mindful practice with an emphasis on alignment so that I never feel unsafe or that I’m risking injury.  I love her teaching, I love the Kula and I always leave class a better version of myself than when I arrived!

Taking yoga classes from Ali has been a truly transformative experience for me.

She has an incredible ability to help you tune into your own body and discover how small adjustments can lead to profound shifts. She has taught me to move with intention and awareness, and her classes feel like a physical, mental, and spiritual reset.

I have practiced yoga with Ali for over 20 years. She pays attention to each student and tailors her teaching to what she is seeing "in the room."

She cares about her students and encourages connections within the kula. Ali has enriched me and helped me develop physically, spiritually, communally and socially. I always feel calm and balanced after a session with Ali and am very blessed to have her as a teacher and good friend.

What has brought me back over the years is her detailed cuing and intelligent sequencing - it makes sense.

It is not hurried. I appreciate the theme or message woven through the sequence giving me something to work toward or think about.

Ali's teaching always shows me wisdom for my body, mind, and soul.  It is a gift to practice with her.

I have been in Ali’s yoga classes for over 20 years and followed her to each location she has been at.

She is amazing in her ability to understand the needs of all her students as far as what one can and cannot do. I have moved forward in my abilities, always thankful for Ali’s gentle encouragement.

Ali's knowledge is deep and wide. She attends to spirit as well as micro-muscles. Her cues are clear and sweet even (alas) via Zoom. I feel better, throughout, attending both of her classes, in the hands of a master.

I tried a variety of yoga classes and instructors but nothing felt like the right fit, until I happened across Ali.

She was teaching in a studio I hadn’t attended before. Almost 20 years later, I’m so grateful for the chance encounter. Even though I’ve moved abroad, she’s still my go to yoga instructor through her online content and I make space for her classes when I travel to Mpls. Her care, positivity, encouraging instruction and continually evolving approach has kept our community growing and engaged.
