BOWSPRING
Like water which seeks depth via least resistance, we tend to fall deeper into patterns and default to unhealthy forms that can inhibit our functionality. Bowspring, a method of functional movement, promotes ease in daily transitions—sitting, standing, lifting, and agile motion—by maintaining the spine’s natural curves in a dynamic stance and balanced fascial engagement throughout the body. In this practice, function follows form.

ABOUT
BOWSPRING
Bowspring is a living posture—fluid, dynamic, and rooted in the body’s natural curves.
Rather than reinforcing the collapsed, rigid shapes we’ve unconsciously absorbed from modern life—screens, chairs, repetition—Bowspring invites us to untangle. It awakens a primal, springy strength beneath the surface, calling us back to a more instinctual, alive way of moving.
This practice doesn’t isolate muscles or chase external form. It honors the whole body—coiled, open, radiant—repatterning how we stand, walk, breathe, and live.
With time, you may feel lighter, more powerful, and deeply at ease. Not because you’ve changed your body, but because you’ve returned to it.
Bowspring is for all levels and ages and yet It takes time to orient to this new alignment. Some habits may need to be unraveled before imprinting new ones. While some students can jump right it, it may be more easeful to learn the basic vocabulary and principles via the Elemental Bow Course. For those with chronic pain and injury, private instruction is strongly encouraged.

New to Bow?
Start with curiosity, not perfection. This isn’t about performing poses—it’s about reconnecting with sensation, breath, and the natural intelligence of your body. At first, Bowspring may feel unfamiliar, even awkward. That’s a good sign: it means your body is waking up to something new.
Give yourself time to re-pattern. Years of sitting, bracing, and disconnecting won’t unwind overnight. Bowspring invites you to feel more—not less—which can be surprising if you're used to numbing or controlling discomfort. Be patient, gentle, and consistent.
Learn the language. Foundational terms like "radiant heart," "dynamic pulsation," and "open stance" are key to this practice. If you're just beginning, the Elemental Bow Course offers a supportive, structured way to build understanding and confidence.
Move at your own pace. There’s no rush to “get it right.” Some days it may click, other days you’ll just notice your habits more clearly. That’s still progress. Trust the process.
Consider private sessions if you're navigating chronic pain, injury, or just prefer one-on-one guidance. Personalized attention can help you tune into the subtleties and stay safe while discovering strength and spaciousness in a new way.
Above all, bring your whole self. Bowspring isn’t something you do to your body—it’s something you awaken within it.
